The Department was established in March, 2010 as a new one. Professor Magrifa Sharifkanova, Doctor of Science, is the Head of the Department since its establishment. She also is an accredited national expert on Mother and Child Health Care. For her outstanding contributions to the Mother and Child Health Care of the Republic of Kazakhstan, she was awarded the “Keruen” Order.
Scientific studies of the department have covered different issues of obstetrics and gynecology such as women rehabilitation after gynecological operations and during menopausal period, modern approaches for post partum hemorrhage management and safe abortion. The important stage for department was investigation of possibility for primary and secondary prophylactic of cervical cancer in the country and practical assistance to physicians in implementation of cytological screening.
The post graduate trainings conducted on clinical base of the department are well known among physicians and are in demand all over the country. The trainings cover such topics as Clinical Obstetrics and Antenatal Fetus Care, Emergency Situations in Obstetric and Gynecology, Extra Genital Pathology and Pregnancy, Gynecological Endocrinology, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, Family Planning and est.
The members of the Department participated in the International project “Women’s Reproductive Rights in Kazakhstan” organized by World Women Fund. At the same time members of the Department developed special program and modules for training specialists of Youth Friendly Clinics under UNICEF supervision and support. There are resident’s courses in the Department developed.
Nowadays in the Department the following candidates of medical science are presented: Dr. Gulya Alimbayeva, Dr. Gulzhan Beleukhanova, Dr. Ayzhan Dzhusangalieva and since April 2011 – Dr. Tattygul Nurbayeva. The fields of professional expertise of Dr. Gulya Alimbayeva are Gynecological Endocrinology and Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology; Dr. Gulzhan Beleukhanova has special interest in cervical cancer prevention; Dr. Ayzhan Dzhusangalieva has scientific work on clinical and economical effects of the antenatal anti rhesus prophylaxis and Dr. Tattygul Nurbayeva works as a trainer for specialist of Primary Health Care.
